DEB SUCKLING Releases New Single ‘Romeo And Juliet’

Have you ever been in love with the ‘wrong person’? Has the complex give and take around relationships never quite made sense? If you’re nodding, then Romeo and Juliet – the next single from Deb Suckling’s debut solo album ‘Worthy’ – will make total sense.

The latest offering from the album, Romeo and Juliet is an unapologetic slice of noisy pop that pulls at the heartstrings as much as it makes you smile and think about the messiness of life and love.

The record’s first single Awkward gained traction on radio nationally and featured in the 4ZZZ Top 20 for a number of weeks. It was followed by a complete about face with the understated Clean Me Out showing the other side of Deb’s album, gaining critical review.

Romeo and Juliet though is truly a burst of joy. The song is an ode to teenage hood and reflects on the small army of young people that consider her family home as a safe place.

“This song was inspired by the numerous young people I have in my life including my son,” Deb explains, “The fact that we all have experienced huge first love at this time in our lives – that it can be so complex and so difficult to navigate because peers and parents all seem to have an opinion on your first true love.”

“It’s also inspired by the music I listened to during my forays into teenage love.”

Deb has released a host of records over the years, most notably with the bands Brindle and Lucy Star Satellite. But she is equally well known for powerful music projects including The Soldier’s Wife, You Can’t Take Me and the Big Sky Girls mentoring program and her work in the music industry over the past two decades.

Romeo and Juliet is out on all platforms now – with the full album released October 31.
