Sydney-based alternative-rock trio RADICALS have today revealed their thundering new single Falling Faster Slowly – produced by Daniel Antix at Def Wolf Studios (Pist IdiotsSCABZClay J Gladstone).

Igniting with colossal drums and commanding guitars, Falling Faster Slowly explores the frontiers of grunge and alternative music in a stimulating manner. Lead vocalist Brandon Wade pilots the melody above vigorous kick drum and bass, before lurching into a captivating chorus. Takes cues from Royal Blood and The Black Keys, the vivacious song’s lyrics dive into themes of mind alteration.

“The song is based around the feeling/experience of taking drugs,” commends Brandon“We wrote the song while on drugs and thought it would be the perfect time to write and encapsulate what and how we were feeling. It was a wild experience and we’re stoked the song turned out the way it did.”

Complimenting the single is a psychoactive accompanying video – filmed, directed and edited by Nelson Faulds from Level 48 Visuals. Shot at Huxley’s in Caringbah, the video alters between live performance footage and feverish animations, using quick cut editing and psychedelic effects to encapsulate the lyrical themes of the track.

“We shot the music video live which we thought was pretty cool,” continues Brandon“No one had any idea what the song was about or how the music video was going to turn out. We all just rocked up and went nuts. The director Nelson knew what the song was about and did a sick job with his FX skills.”

To support the release, RADICALS will play a run of live shows throughout New South Wales, including an upcoming appearance at Yours & Owls Festival in April. In the live arena, the group have previously sold out headline shows at The Lansdowne, Oxford Arts Factory and Vinnies Dive Bar, as well as supporting home-based favourites Ruby FieldsLOSER and The Dead Love.

Previous singles have been supported by the likes of Apple Musictriple j Unearthed, The Faction, 4ZZZSYN FMRadio AdelaidePBS FM, and WXRY Discovery (USA). They’ve also received online praise from New Noise Magazine (USA), Hysteria MagazineAAA Backstage, Rawing In The PitMilkyUngrained Magazine and LivewireAU. Their music video for I Hate Myself was added to rotation on ABC’s rage.
