EUAN HART Melts Hearts With Debut Single + Video ‘Snowflake’

Melting hearts with his vulnerable, self-aware lyricism, soul-stirring melodies and warming vocals, the highly-anticipated introduction of Sydney-based indie folk/ pop artist Euan Hart was well worth the wait as he today unveils his ambient debut single Snowflake, alongside an intriguing music video accompaniment.

Driven by a desire to create endearing sonic experiences through earthy acoustic-folk foundations paired with eccentric tinges of electro-pop, Euan Hart is a natural-born singer-songwriter who isn’t afraid to express himself through meaningful lyricism and at times, a little self-deprecating humour.

Written about the emotional longing of wanting someone you can’t have, Euan Hart brings some of his self-mocking whimsy to Snowflake, explaining: “Snowflake is about wanting someone you can’t have, or more specifically haven’t had in a long while. Then when you think it might work out, they make you too damn nervous to be fully yourself, like you were before you met them. It’s quite funny because I wrote this a couple weeks before I met someone I was really attracted to, and didn’t quite understand my own lyrics, until the situation came to fruition. Be careful what you wish for!”

Taking influences from some of the contemporary folk greats, including Wyes Blood, early Father John Misty works and elements of Andy Shauf, Euan Hart delivers an enticing fusion of traditional songwriting, acoustic instrumentals and some wonderfully wacky soundscapes in Snowflake, which was self-produced by Euan in Sydney, and mixed by Alex L’Estrange (Hope D).

The swirling single is also being released with a compelling music video accompaniment, which follows Euan Hart on a journey from waking up alone and deserted in the middle of nowhere until eventually ending up on his way to somewhere important, briefcase in hand. Euan Hart reflects on the making of the video: “Myself, Jack Moran and Eddie Yabsley went away to a lovely town called Sofala for three days to film this beauty. We were massively inspired by the classic Australian film ‘Wake in Fright’, and Jack wanted to put a new spin on it. The feeling of being lost in the epic Aussie landscape in a beige suit is a funny one – it’s so clean and once it gets a mark on it, it’s pretty easy to let it get wrecked. I kept mine clean”.

The video was directed and produced by Jack Moran and Eddie Yabsley, alongside Euan Hart himself.

Arriving on the scene in a flurry of folk/ pop that is as wholesome as it is intoxicating, Euan Hart has already positioned himself as one to watch, and encourages you to do this live at his Single Launch Show at Sydney’s Golden Age Cinema & Bar on May 7 – tickets on sale now.
