HALIDAY Delivers Nostalgic Punk-Rock Glory With Debut EP ‘Honeyglow’

Soaked in nostalgic punk rock influences and packing a punch that is sure to hit right in the feels, Adelaide’s Haliday is today releasing his eagerly-awaited debut EP ‘HONEYGLOW’.

Delivering a propulsive 6-track punk experience that speaks directly to the inner angst within us all, ‘HONEYGLOW’ is an ode to Haliday’s teenage self as he embraces influences from a genre that has shaped his past, combining nostalgic punk rock progressions with a distinctive lyrical capability inspired by relatable modern anxieties.

“This EP back to front is me reminiscing on my favourite bands like blink-182, Balance and Composure, The Story So Far & Angels and Airwaves – just everything I listened to in my teens”, says Haliday. “I sat down to itch the scratch of writing like I would when I was 16, and I loved how easy it was for me to write. I didn’t have to force anything and it came all so naturally so I ended up with an EP worth of songs.”

Including the restless and raring recent single Head Rest, written with live bandmate and TOWNS frontman Aston Valladares and featuring guest vocals from Teenage Joans’ Tahlia Borg, most of HONEYGLOW’ was written a peak time of isolation in 2020, as Haliday reflects, “I think it was easy to look back at music and phases I used to love, because at the time I had lost my job and all tours I was supposed to be on were destroyed by a pandemic, so the past was way more appealing than the present.”

Haliday and his band are building an enviable resume of live appearances, including Brisbane’s Scorched Fest and Mountain Goat Valley Crawl, and support slots with Yours Truly, Teenage Joans, and Mum Friends. The debut single Phase Me hit the airwaves with a First Play on triple j’s Home & Hosed, followed by spins on Short.Fast.Loud and Weekend Lunch, while clocking community radio support across 4ZZZ, SYN, Radio Adelaide and more. The growing buzz for the newcomer is punctuated by the release of his bold, nostalgic debut EP ‘HONEYGLOW’, produced, mixed and mastered by Lachy Pitcher at Depict Studios in Adelaide.

“I’m so excited to finally announce my debut EP ‘HONEYGLOW’!” says Haliday. “It feels good to be finally expressing myself in music that I’m super comfortable in. Growing up listening to punk rock I’ve always wanted to play this kind of music but it never really panned out that way, and now that I’m finally doing it I’m stoked.”
