On the back of a full line-up change, personal breakups, tour cancellations, lost recording sessions and more, Brisbane Indie Rock act Fight Ibis, have today dropped a full album. The new full release, quietly dropped and titled ‘The Black and White Days’, is met with a short run of dates starting tonight at The Northern in Byron Bay.
Never one to stick to industry formulas, the new album takes listeners on a journey of fun / chill / good vibes. Perfect for a weekend come up or come down.
Kyuss, band frontman says ““We’re Excited to hit the road in celebration of a new album release. We’re feeling ambitious and looking to become millionaires by the end of this run so come along and help make that happen. The new album was made out of the love of DIY. Recorded and mixed all in a basement, it captures naive ambition pretty well. It’s raw and silly but it has the feeling of fun, freedom and sadness sprinkled throughout, making it a well rounded, visit-every-corner kinda album. It’s exciting to be playing it locally and down across borders where we haven’t been able to go in years. The band is in the best spirits it’s ever been in and we’re all itching to visit YOU soon. Yeah.”
Known for a wide palate of sonic offerings, Fight Ibis dial this one back from their previous heavy Psych offerings, showing signs of wider influence and compositional maturity.
From exciting origins as a Triple J feature act, appearances at The Big Pineapple Music Festival, Dead of Winter, Bigsound and more as well as supporting the likes of The Growlers (USA), Hockey Dad and Mako Road (NZ) in several sold out performances, Fight Ibis hit the road for a short run of dates in support of the sneaky album release.
