Hot on the heels of the release of their last single and an East Coast tour, today Ivey drop buoyant heartbreak single and video Back Home. The single pairs an uplifting driving beat made for the dancefloor, with lyrics that ache to be moving on from a love that was.
Says Millie from the band; “I wrote ‘Back Home’ a month after a big breakup. The breakup was messy, he was partying a lot, I was trying to hold on to a love that had gone and I had to move back to my mum and dad’s house. I was devastated, I found a lot of help through being with the boys, writing music and listening to sad songs in my car. I loved how those songs were/are so truthful and how you can really hear the pain and hurt in an artist’s voice – I wanted a song like that. We all sat in the studio on a Tuesday night as normal and I poured my heart out. I love this song – it healed me. I hope you love it too.”
Ivey returned in June with Pretty Boys, the first piece of new music from the band since their debut EP ‘love + miscellanea’ was released in 2020. Alongside the single they completed a run of tour dates down the East Coast and performed at Surface Festival on the Gold Coast. Next up they will be sharing their captivating live show with Springtime and Jungle Love Festivals.
Ivey is Millie, Lachie, Dante, Matt and Riley, a band of best friends from the Gold Coast. Off the back of successful singles through 2018-2020, Ivey found themselves supporting the likes of Cub Sport and Lime Cordiale and performing at Falls Festival, The Drop and Yalls Fest. The band continued in success with their debut love + miscellanea EP release in October 2020, which saw over 7 million streams and sell out shows across Queensland during the peak of COVID-19 in October of 2020. They also picked up high rotation on radio around the country and grabbed the attention of international press such as Clash and The Line of Best Fit.
They have completed multiple headline shows and supported the likes of Ruby Fields, Ocean Alley, Confidence Man, Eves Karydas as well as hosting an annual End Of Year Party on the Gold Coast with on the rise acts supporting such as Sycco, Saint Lane, Peach Fur and more.
