Making their definitive introduction late last year with the release of their debut EP, ‘Glamorise Demise’, Brisbane alternative metal group Headwreck continue to capture the ears of many in Australia’s circle of heavy music fandom as well as in global online communities with the digital release of ‘Glamorise Demise (Reimagined)’.Â
Headwreck paved their way through their eclectic sound and performance as heard on the original ‘Glamorise Demise’, combining melodic hardcore and electronic influences mixed with well written, pop inspired hooks and lyrical content that could please any alternative fan.
Creating high demand for a vinyl pressing of ‘Glamorise Demise’ through vinyl kings Anti Vinyl Vinyl Club and selling out all variants within 24 hours earlier this year, the release was made even more special with the addition of an exclusive B-side release featuring four reimagined tracks. While the bonus material was previously only available on vinyl, the demand increased from those who missed out, which in turn has eventuated in an official digital release, streaming everywhere today!
Drummer Colby Horton explains: “Through the high demand from fans and to celebrate reaching 100,000 streams on ‘Glamorise Demise’ on Spotify, we felt releasing this reimagined EP would satisfy our fans and would appropriately end this EP cycle as we prepare for our second EP.â€
The reimagined tracks occupy a less frantic, manic space found on the original debut and are far more melancholic in feel and arrangement, pulling primarily from the electronic side of influences Headwreck fans would be familiar with while continuing to offer something new.
Horton continues: “Glamorise Demise (Reimagined) was purely written, produced, mixed and mastered by Jamo Benadie (the guitarist of Headwreck). Through listening to various genres Jamo had a rough idea of what styles he’d like to try and translate ‘Glamorise Demise’ into. This resulted with a stripped back track, a dnb track, a lofi track and an electronic track.â€
When ‘Glamorise Demise’ was originally released last year, the band celebrated with a sold out crowd at their EP launch show in Brisbane. Since then, all singles from the EP have received plenty of triple j love with spins across programs The Racket, short.fast.loud, Breakfast, Lunch and even Richard Kingsmill’s 2021 show. Empty Space was added to rotation on Unearthed radio and the band were subsequently crowned as Unearthed feature artist in their week of release.
Headwreck also completed their first national tour with the ‘cult-like’ followed Melbourne band, Alera, and have offered the promise of new music because the year is up.
