THE RIOT Share New Single ‘Violence’ + Announce Headline East Coast Tour

Fast paced, fiery Gold Coast act THE RIOT today unleash their new single, Violence and announce they’ll be hitting the road in May for an upcoming East Coast Headline tour.

THE RIOT will be taking their dynamic and chaotic live shows to OAF Gallery in Sydney on Friday May 5, Bad Decisions Bar in Melbourne on Saturday May 6, and the Warehouse Party in Brisbane on Saturday May 20.

With the imminent release of their ‘HAPPY TEARS! EP’ on March 31st (out via Island Records AustraliaPRE-ORDER HERE), second single Violence, instantly rips through giving us yet another taste of what to expect from their debut EP.

Fearlessly experimenting with their sound, Violence was the first song THE RIOT (aka Tyler and JD) collaborated with producer Club Angel. With Tony Hawks Pro Skater serving as a key influence on the single, the original demo went from a guitar driven track into the world of THPS.

Speaking about the process of making Violence, THE RIOT explain, “The guitar came out and Tyler and Gabe (Club Angel) went into a world of THPS. We had a few different choruses, but they weren’t feeling right. When we came up with the one you hear on the finished track we knew we had completed the song… that’s until Tyler decided he needed an extra riff at the end. The tempo change worked out perfectly and glued the song together exactly how it needed. Then JD jumped on with a 1 take freestyle at the end and the song was complete.”

According to THE RIOT, Violence is about going after what you want and never doubting being different in this messed up world. It follows their first single lifted from the EP, ‘Idea Of You’ which Hysteria Mag praise as a “slick and sharply textured outing”. The 5-track EP, written and recorded in 2-weeks in Sydney, was produced primarily by Club Angel and includes the transfixing Oxygen, Lost and Found and Justice, which was produced by sought-after producer Tasker.

“We cannot wait to get this song out to the world”, says THE RIOTS lead singer JD. “It’s one of those songs that feels even better live. Hence why we had to tour to allow people to experience it with us.”

Since launching in 2019, THE RIOT have received praise from Blunt Magazine, NME, Hysteria, Happy Magazine, Sniffers, Iggy Magazine and Life Without Andy; airplay support from triple j, 4ZZZ, FBi Radio and The Faction; video additions on rage and MTV Upload and a slew of playlist additions on Spotify, The Apple Music, and YouTube Music. Known for their electrifying live performances, THE RIOT who have previously supported DMA’S, WAAX and Nerve, are thrilled to be taking their high-energy live shows back on the road. Fans can expect to hear new tracks from their ‘HAPPY TEARS! EP’, as well previously released singles, for what will be an unforgettable experience on their third East Coast Headline Tour in May.  Tickets on sale now.
