Behind the mesmerising melodies, soothing vocals and overall comforting warmth of their music, lies a duo with a captivating story waiting to be told. Salt Tree, an enigmatic acoustic duo from the small surf town of Margaret River in Western Australia, have gained real traction amongst fans with their soul-stirring performances and songwriting. Ahead of their first ever Queensland shows Tom and Nath of Salt Tree have shared with us five fascinating aspects that even their most dedicated followers might not be aware of… until now…
We met at an open mic night in Margaret River. We’d recommend anyone keen on getting in to playing live, find a cool open mic to play at. You just play three songs and it’s a great opportunity to practise playing in front of a crowd as well as meet many like-minded people.
We’ve recorded and produced almost all of our songs ourselves in home studios and a shipping container. We care about the music we write and find we can experiment and have more creative freedom when we have all the time to work on the music ourselves.
Nath has done 15 snow seasons and Tom used to be a Mechanical Engineer. We are very different in our personalities and upbringing, about as different as it gets but we find when we make music it just works.
We both DJ and love how you can take a crowd on a journey. We appreciate all music so this is a way we can share our taste
Nath also makes hip hop and Tom makes electronic music. We love making all styles of music and often write random tracks in different genres just for the sake of it.
