Fresh from captivating crowds at BIGSOUND and the release of his August singles, Make Up Moves and A Song For My Brother, Melbourne-based songwriter and musician ISHAN keeps the momentum going with the infectious indie-rock anthem Olivia Rodrigo..
A playful tribute to one of the world’s biggest pop stars, Olivia Rodrigo is a high-energy, joyous pop track that has quickly become a fan favourite at ISHAN’s live shows. With driving rhythm guitars and an irresistible sing-along chorus, this release adds yet another layer to ISHAN’s string of dynamic hits.
“Olivia Rodrigo is a tongue in cheek pop-rock song about wanting to find a small slice of the pop star’s magic in real life,” explains ISHAN. “It holds Olivia Rodrigo up as a quintessential, talented and much loved pop star whilst indulging the perspective of an average fan who would obviously never even meet her. They feel so understood by her music that they look to the real world for someone who has – as the song says – “10% of her charisma and charm.”
“Although it does ask questions about the connection we have with famous people, I hope fans will simply rally behind the idea that the song is a light-hearted look at fame and of course Olivia Rodrigo,” ISHAN says. “Ultimately, I am a huge fan of hers, so it comes from a place of appreciation for her as an artist.”
Along with the release of Olivia Rodrigo, ISHAN also announces his highly anticipated debut album ‘Who The Hell Is Klara?’, due early 2025. The album will feature singles My Mouth (la la la) and Her Boyfriend’s House, with more to be unveiled in the coming months. In a bold move, ISHAN will release his debut album piece by piece, giving fans an ongoing experience to savour.
Adding to the buzz, ISHAN will also bring his magnetic live show to Big Pineapple Festival, NYE On The Hill and a series of headline shows across Australia before the year is out. With a packed schedule and his debut album on the horizon, the future for ISHAN has never been more exciting.
