Rising queer Indie Pop Rock artist Ixaras has released her latest single, new to this, offering a heartfelt preview of her debut EP, ‘full lover fake friend’. This final single provides an intimate look at her journey through love and vulnerability, perfectly setting the stage for the highly anticipated EP.
“new to this is inspired by my occasional compulsion to fall a bit too easily,” says Ixaras. “I wrote this song at the age of 13, and it’s a confession of inexperience when it comes to love and relationships.” With its fusion of post-punk guitar tones and catchy indie pop rock melodies, the track embodies the candidness that has become synonymous with Ixaras‘ music.
The release of new to this also marks a milestone in Ixaras’ current Australian tour, where she’s supporting Grinspoon and Aleskiah, as well as headlining her own shows. In addition to her current tour, fans can catch Ixaras at upcoming festivals like NYE On the Hill, and Great Escape TAS. Recently performing at the Sweet Relief Festival alongside Kelis and The Presets, curating her own Happy Feet Festival through her label Anti-Dismal, featuring rising Australian talent such as Kian, Dust, and The Belair Lip Bombs, and showcasing at SXSW Sydney, Ixaras is steadily making a lasting impact on the country’s live music scene.
As a Brisbane-based artist who embodies the spirit of inclusivity and accessibility, Ixaras not only uses her music as a platform for self-expression but also leads her own DIY label, Anti-Dismal, organising all-ages gigs in unconventional spaces like skateparks, backyards, and community halls.
Previous singles from this project, fresh figure and she’s already out the doorstep, garnered significant attention, including first plays on triple j’s Home & Hosed. Ixaras‘ music has received major support from triple j Unearthed, Sirius XMU, 4ZZZ, and JOY FM, with prominent editorial playlist placements on Spotify’s Local Noise and Apple Music’s New Music Daily, Today’s Indie Rock, and more. Editorial outlets such as Junkee, Alterwave, Frankie Magazine, Purple Sneakers, CH-VOID, and The Point Music News have also championed her work.
