Introducing BIG NOTER, an all-new project from Aboriginal Australian icon BRIGGS, a proud Yorta-Yorta/Wurundjeri/Wemba-
“People might be surprised, but this is where I’m most at home, this is the sound I was raised on” says Briggs.
The first taste comes via IDENTITY released today on Island Records/UMA. Working with acclaimed engineer Nick Didia (Rage Against The Machine, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen), there was never any intention of messing around and making a small splash here.
From the get-go on the debut single the listener can feel the change of gears, as the nostalgic guitar kicks in, the accompaniment of BRIGGS’ vocals at their most aggressive to date prick the listener’s ears up with his modern yet classic take on hardcore/punk energy. The fiery passion is undeniable and as is the heart behind the track. There’s no secret Briggs is still a champion of Australian music with an unwavering connection to his people. This is evident in attitude, his unapologetic lyrics and take-no-prisoners approach always at the fore.
BRIGGS has spent the past 15 years touring extensively across Australia and UK/Europe, headlining shows, playing major festivals and supporting legendary artists such as Body Count, Ice Cube, MF DOOM, Ghostface Killah and Pharoahe Monch to name a small few.
As a touring act, BIG NOTER consists of BRIGGS (Vocals), Steve Smith (drums), Leigh Davies (guitars) and Craig Strain (bass).
With a debut album well under way, as well as debut shows supporting Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee, Tom Morello on his April 2025 Australian tour, BIG NOTER is set to make waves and land with a major impact in the Australian music scene.
