Burrow is the indie-rock recording project of Boorloo/Perth-based musician Drew Kendell. Having previously been involved in the hardcore scene, Drew pivoted away from heavy music 2019 after former band Surroundings released their sophomore album ‘Glass Heart’.

Burrow started in 2021 as a means of catharsis and has since become a meaningful endeavour. Drew’s love of post-punk, ambient music and shoegaze soundscapes provide a comforting bed of instrumentation backed with considered and honest words.

Spiral was recorded and mixed by Matthew Templeman (Birds of Tokyo, Sly Withers, Voyager) and mastered by Brian Lucey (Arctic Monkeys, Chet Faker, Royal Blood).

The single also features backing vocals from local Indie Pop artist Lo

Drew describes the themes behind Spiral: “Debut single ‘Spiral’ is an exploration of perfectionistic behaviour, patterns rooted in fear and coping mechanisms that no longer serve me. It’s a reminder to connect with my inner child and know that life is a process and being human is a process.” The accompanying video was filmed in Nannup, in the South West of Western Australia. It was a collaborative effort between me and my friends/colleagues in the film industry. It was a necessary therapeutic experience, showcasing myself in a vulnerable way whilst revealing abstractions of some of my fears around intimacy and relationships.”

Spiral is available on all streaming platforms from October 7th – LISTEN HERE
