Boorloo/Perth-based pop artist CHEZ has returned with her radiant single so good – produced by the artist herself, Caleb Lenzo and Reece Lenzo (We The Kings, 44phantom, SK8).
so good opens with CHEZ‘s vocals gliding over a high-energy bassline, setting the stage for a meticulously crafted, polished pop production. The soundscape brims with lush harmonies, providing a rich backdrop for the memorable chorus to float effortlessly over the crisp, dynamic instrumentation.
CHEZ talks about the inspiration behind so good: “so good touches on a relationship that was falling apart, but where I was trying my best to keep it together and almost live in denial. After committing so much time to someone and watching our relationship slowly dwindle into existing together as strangers, there was an internal shame I felt and I didn’t want anyone to know how shit it really was out of being seen as a failure or the problem. It’s something I know a lot of people feel and experience and I think it was an important message to share.”
In the live scene, CHEZ recently sold out her debut headline show three weeks before the performance date (200 tickets). She has also shared the stage with acts such as Against The Current (USA), PVRIS (USA), Magnolia Park (USA) and Taylor Acorn (USA). Along with this, her previous releases have seen extensive support from Spotify, Apple Music, triple j, triple j Unearthed, Alt Press (USA), idobi Radio (USA) and Wall Of Sound.
Fresh off a sonic rebrand, so good is the first track stepping away from CHEZ‘s previous pop-punk sound. She shares, “It’s very exciting as this sound that is coming has felt the most authentic and real to me. For the longest time, I have been forcing my sound to the likes of those around me, taking outside opinions far too literally and just neglecting what feels like my truest form, which is writing, creating and making pop music with a slight alternative edge!”
