After years of anticipation, Dommin is back with a brand new studio album, ‘The Martyr’, set for release on February 14th, 2025.
This highly awaited album marks Dommin‘s first full-length project in 8 years and his first new music in 4 years, signalling a significant chapter in his musical evolution. What makes this album even more noteworthy is that it’s the first time since 2006 that Dommin operates as a solo act, with frontman, Kristofer Dommin, adopting the singular moniker and taking full control after the gradual departure of his bandmates over the years.
Reflecting on the changes, Dommin shared, “I have so many ideas and songs that I feel a compulsion to release, so over the past year, I began putting everything together. While the previous line-up was a wonderful group of people that I considered friends as well as bandmates, I realized I couldn’t wait around for life to offer me the same situation. I had to push forward or risk getting stuck in complacency. Until I find the right people again—or maybe forevermore—I am Dommin.”
This upcoming fourth studio album, ‘The Martyr’, is a 15-track journey that showcases the signature dark, moody rock sound that Dommin fans have come to love. From up-tempo goth rock anthems to slow, brooding ballads, ‘The Martyr’ delivers a range of emotionally charged compositions. Featuring a blend of baritone vocals, romantic lyrics, crunchy guitars, and atmospheric church choirs, the album’s opening title track will instantly resonate with long-time listeners.
In discussing the album’s themes, Dommin notes, “In some ways, this is a return to form. The album embodies the dark, melancholic rock fans are familiar with. When I looked over the list of songs, I noticed many had lyrics that mention the willingness to lose it all. The title of The Martyr felt fitting.”
Dommin played nearly all the instruments on the record, with the help of a session drummer, making this his most personal work yet. His passion and resilience are palpable throughout the album, cementing his position as a unique voice in goth rock, a genre steeped in themes of love, loss and self-reflection that continue to resonate in ‘The Martyr’.
Dommin fans won’t have to wait much longer to immerse themselves in his latest work as he returns, more determined and introspective than ever before.
