Even if you haven’t heard of his name, you’ve most likely heard Dylan Ollivierre’s work.
Making up one half of The Money War, producing/ songwriting for Grentperez, Meg Mac, Tia Gostelow, Holy Holy, Great Gable, The Buoys, Siobhan Cotchin, and Joan and the Giants, as well as having songs on Netflix specials, HBO shows, ABC docos, Dylan has over 80 million streams to his name – combining his skilful production with an unwavering talent for songwriting to release his debut solo EP ‘Let It Land’ – out 24 January.
Predominantly writing and producing for other artists, he’s found that certain songs have surfaced that are just too especial for anyone but himself to release, sharing “The EP is a collection of songs that are very personal. I write a lot with other artists but these couldn’t be for anyone but me.”
Creating a sound comparable to Neil Finn, Waxahatchee, and Bonnie Light Horsemen, Dylan’s songwriting is melody and lyric-focused, centred in the singer-songwriter genre with elements of country, folk, and pop. Drawing inspiration from life events and stories around him, Dylan explains, “The whole [EP] process was pretty insular, just me carving out little pockets of time in my schedule to go down the well and see what comes up.”
With the exception of mastering from Calvin Bennett, and piano by Tony Bourke, ‘Let It Land’ was written, performed, produced and mixed entirely by Dylan, showcasing and promoting the high standard of work he creates in his studio – something that he hopes this EP can shed some light on.
The release of ‘Let It Land’ comes just before Dylan travels to the United States in February to do a writing trip – so expect more to come from this exceptional and prolific songwriter/ producer/ musician.
