DZ Deathrays are celebrating their upcoming regional tour dates with a brand new release, Like No Other, co-written with Hearteyes (Daine3NDLES5 & Crazymike).

Spawned from sessions between the unlikely pairing of Shane Parsons and songwriter Maurice Santiago, PKA Hearteyes, produced by Nathan Sheehy, Like No Other channels DZ’s rebellious origins in electro-clash, nu-disco flecked punk rock. While stationed together under the guise of just creating, Santiago and Parsons would tweak Like No Other over a year, littering programmed clap percussion with Simon Ridley’s signature drum sound. The result is a playful twist on the genre, balancing thrill and experimentation into the collective’s new favourite.

“Like no other is a weird song to me,” reflects vocalist Shane Parsons“Musically it goes all over the place, it’s dancey with a taste of punk and even a slight breakdown in the middle mixed with surf guitar. The lyrics are obscure and I don’t even know what they mean but they sound good so we ran with it! I can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks about this new one from us!”

Following on from the group’s boisterous First Night Fever, today’s Like No Other arrives ahead of DZ Deathrays‘ ‘Weekend Warriors’ Regional Australian tour. Kicking off last week in Western Australia, and continuing through to April with a powerhouse of local talent aboard the journey: Drunk Mums, The Beefs, Semantics, Last Quokka, Mannequin Death Squad, Pretty Uglys, Trim Reaper, Private Wives, Goon Gremlins, Itchy & The Nits, Korderoy and No Longer Kids, this tour is one not to be missed.

Drunk Mums return from a four-year hiatus with their new single Livin’ at Night. The track previews their forthcoming album, ‘Beer Baby’, set for release on March 7, 2025, and captures the band’s irreverent style that celebrates living in the moment. Perth’s Last Quokka, known for their politically charged lyrics and gritty, high-energy performances, have been steadily gaining a following both locally and internationally. Signed to French punk label Mass Prod, Last Quokka’s latest single Cost of Living offers a taste of their upcoming LP and continues to build on the momentum from their Australian Music Prize-nominated album, ‘Red Dirt’.

Elsewhere, Mannequin Death Squad—a fierce Melbourne duo known for their DIY ethic and raw energy—will deliver their grungy, pop-punk fusion that has made them a must-see act following their recent SXSW Sydney appearances and self-funded ‘DIY or DIE’ tour across Europe. Alongside them are Pretty Uglys, whose feel-good garage rock has seen them support major acts like Skegss and Pacific Avenue. Fans can expect to hear new tracks from their anticipated debut album, led by the infectious single Supernova.
