Elizabeth M. Drummond reveals her new single Everything, a deranged love song built on sparkly dark pop. Drummond fully embraces the delusional infatuation of the song’s themes in an eerie yet enthralling video.

Drummond wrote Everything by leaning into the idea of a character who is utterly obsessed with a famous artist. Drummond explains, “Instead of the verse, I had sampled the audio of Ryan Gosling from the famous “What do you want?!” scene in ‘The Notebook’. Unfortunately, it wasn’t going to be easy to clear ‘The Notebook’ samples, so I decided it was best to refine the structure, write better verses and not rely on samples.”

Produced by Drummond and Vince McIntyre, the song mirrors the themes of the lyrics with textural layers. A gritty bass line drives the unhinged core of the song, while the catchy lightness of the chorus conveys the delusional dedication of obsession. Drummond says, “I was leaning into this idea of a sparkly but distorted love obsession, with all the production mimicking this. I took the session to my friend Vincent McIntyre where we added more live instruments, synths and all kinds of shit that transformed the song into what it is now.” The song was mixed by Pelle Gunnerfeldta Grammy-winning Producer of the Year in Sweden known for his collaborations with the likes of Viagra Boys and The Hives.

Discussing the creation of the video alongside Director Rick Clifford, Drummond shares, “I wanted to make a video that matched the mix of sparkle and darkness that is in the song. The faceless paper plate man is the obsession, and I am the person who would do anything for him. Rick found an abandoned house, which was the perfect backdrop for the video.”

Everything follows the release of captivating and hypnotic single Simplify, which received airplay across triple jTriple RRTR2SERFBiEdge4ZZZKEXP and a spin on John Kennedy’s Xposure Daily on Radio X. Drummond‘s 2022 self-produced debut solo EP, ‘Congratulations’, was mixed by Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, Sports Team), with each track accompanied by an eye-catching visual made in collaboration with cinematographer Richard Clifford. Drummond’s latest two singles reaffirm her pan-disciplinary approach to art; incorporating aspects of film, acting, theatre, dance and movement alongside her music.

Drummond’s solo material has garnered praise from notable figures like Jack Saunders on BBC Radio 1, who lauded her as his ‘Next Wave’ artist, stating, “When an artist comes along out of nowhere and releases a debut single that captures your attention, well, that kind of says a lot.” Further radio support has come from revered songwriter and frontman of Elbow, Guy Garvey on BBC Radio 6KEXP’s Kevin Cole, with features in prominent publications like The GuardianThe Sunday Times, and Clash.

With new single Everything, Drummond’s uncompromising vision for her music makes for a song that is just as infectious as it is unsettling.
