Queensland Melodic Punks Fake News kicked off 2025 with an Australian tour supporting Millencolin & Pennywise and signed with international record label Thousand Island Records. Today, May 7th, they release their killer new album ‘Dead Set’ available now, digitally and on vinyl.
The band are also dropping the video for the track Hit The Ground, showcasing epic footage of their recent national tour supporting Pennywise and Millencolin.
Fake News are ready to take the next step forward as they drop their album ‘Dead Set’ whilst staying true to their 90’s skate punk sound the band have evolved and raised the bar on the album. Boasting a high energy and action packed live show the release of ‘Dead Set’ is a staunch reminder that Fake News are here to stay and create a legacy that stretches beyond their own backyard.
Guitarist Darren says, “The sound of ‘Dead Set’ builds on what we already have done in a modern fashion, using sounds that we have never previously used. With a fresh batch of harmony’s, melody’s, pitch shifting and lyrical styles, catchy chorus’s and gritty verses this album moves with the times of the new dark ages, staying true to our previous sound while evolving.”
On the Hit The Ground video, Darren says, “Hit The Ground is a high-octane thrill ride compiled of footage from our recent tour with Pennywise and Millencolin along with footage of us just hanging out, having fun and cracking jokes as we always do. The video shows mass crowd involvement on one of the biggest punk stages Australia has seen, cementing us as a band to watch in the melodic punk scene”.
