Georgie Winchester and Nick Saxon (Benjalu Band), hailing from Awabakal country in Newcastle NSW, showcase their talents for songwriting and collaboration on latest single, The Lighthouse.
Produced by engineer, Gareth Hudson at Hazy Cosmic Jive (Lauren Ryan, Briggs) in Newcastle, they explore an acoustic driven sonic journey complete with crisp acoustic guitar sprinkled with tasteful hints of banjo, topped off with resonant vocal melodies and harmonies.
This track was collaboratively written inside the Newcastle Lighthouse where Georgie was a resident of in early 2024. This residency is used for inspiration in the song, where light from the lighthouse is a metaphor for long distance love.
Recently, Georgie Winchester has released her debut EP and shared line-ups with renowned Australian acts such as Troye Sivan, Glass Animals and G Flip after playing Spilt Milk Festival. She is currently in residence at Kings Canyon Resort, Central Australia where she is writing, collaborating online and playing music every day for 3 months to prepare for her upcoming 10 track album release recorded out at Dashville Studios.
Nick Saxon is a musical troubadour. The singer songwriter has beautifully crafted dreamy soundscapes, inspired by his wandering spirit. He’s performed at nearly every major Australian music festival, and toured Internationally across the U.K, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Japan and New Zealand. After taking some time off the touring circuit, Nick Saxon has been working hard on a brand new album.
