Georgie Winchester, hailing from Wonnurua country in the small town of Maitland NSW, showcases her talent for hook-heavy songwriting in a punk-inspired call to action on this latest single, Crying In Private.
Recorded in the iconic bush studio at Dashville NSW backed by Dashville Community Records and a team of some of Australia’s best industry professionals, namely Jack Nigro (Dune Rats, Skeggs, DMA’s) and Christopher Dale (Melody Pool), Georgie channels 90’s band No Doubt with driving guitars, explosive drums, and a gritty chorus giving he track high replay value.
Built around the refrain “I don’t wanna be crying in private, let me cry in public,” it’s a bold, rebellion-fuelled rallying cry. This track is one arm off her upcoming sophomore album ‘Dust & Salt’, navigating her experiences of power imbalances within the music industry.
At its core, the Crying In Private draws from Winchester’s lived experience as a young female musician confronting unequal power dynamics within the music industry. Choosing to be heard rather than hidden, she reframes the experience on her own terms, in her own way, grounded in strength not sympathy.
‘Crying In Private’ is the first of four singles to be released from the ‘Dust & Salt’ album to be released this November, supported by a 16-date European tour.
Recently, Georgie Winchester has shared line ups with renowned Australian acts such as G-Flip, Troye Sivan & Glass Animals at Spilt Milk Festival. She looks forward to taking the stage to promote her new album on her first European tour spanning across Italy, Hungary, Greece, Germany, Switzerland and the UK beginning May 2026.
