Stepping closer to household name status with each release, rising Australian singer-songwriter Gia Darcy today shares her sparkling, heart-on-sleeve pop anthem Illuminate.
Later this year, Gia Darcy is set to release a three-track mini EP that explores how mental health manifests within relationships, and the insecurity, the disconnect, and the anxiety that shape how we love.
Illuminate is the first song lifted from the upcoming release, and is as Gia reveals “a song about being a shapeshifter, the quiet exhaustion of trying to be everything for everyone, constantly adjusting yourself to feel accepted. The track captures the moment of realisation that the right person doesn’t require performance or perfection, they simply see you, and love you, as you are.”
Written alongside her long-time collaborators and creative dream team, songwriter Ross Newhouse and producer Liam Quinn (Ruel / Rita Ora / Peach PRC), Illuminate captures Gia Darcy at her most vulnerable and self-assured. Anchored by airy production, gentle builds and Gia’s unmistakably warm vocal, the track leans into softness as a strength, allowing emotional honesty to take centre stage.
The release is accompanied by a shimmery music video directed by Renata Wells, with cinematography by Alexander Leeway, whose work includes collaborations with The Veronicas, Charley and Hugo Basclain.
Gia Darcy has continued to build momentum as a confident and emotionally articulate pop artist. Her 2024 EP ‘Crash Test’ received Australia-wide support, including a triple j Unearthed TOPS premiere, subsequent triple j airplay across multiple singles, and a triple j Song of the Week.
