Eora/Sydney-based indie-rock group Good Lekker have started the New Year in style with the release of their lively new single Show I Care â€“ produced and mixed by Daniel Willington (Thunder FoxILUKA) and mastered by Steve Smart at Studios 301.

True to their craftsmanship and flair with songwriting, Show I Care sees Good Lekker continue their searing form with another offering of indie rock brilliance. Riveting guitars and spellbinding synth leads combine emphatically for a lavish hook, detailed with rhythmic finesse and melodic intricacies. Completed with dominant vocals, the band’s compact chemistry steals the spotlight once again, making for a new fantastic addition to their catalogue.

“I tried to keep the lyrics as simple as possible in ‘Show I Care’,” explains vocalist Joshua Fahy. “To an extent, I want listeners to be able to imbed their own meaning into the song, however they relate to it. Context is impossible to escape when writing, however. This song reflects me, in my mid-20s, unsure of what comes next in life. It’s about dragging others along for the ride while goals dissipate and past dreams begin to look foreign to yourself. It’s about the transience of friendship as everyone moves on to different stages of life and the difficulties of keeping in touch. It’s about trying to glue all these parts into a half-decent collage and loving what you make. Take your pick for what appeals to you.”

To celebrate the release, Good Lekker have announced an East-Coast headline tour in May, including performances at The Lady Hampshire in Eora/Sydney, The Workers Club in Naarm/Melbourne and O’Skulligans in Meanjin/Brisbane.

Throughout the previous year, the band toured extensively across the country, playing headline shows and supporting the likes of Bootleg RascalShag RockThe Moving StillsBritish India and Keli Holiday (Peking Duk), and were set to play at cancelled festivals Yours and Owls and Festival of the Sun. Since their inception, they’ve shared the stage with beloved acts such as MALLRATHockey DadThe VannsTeen Jesus and the Jean TeasersBoo Seeka and The Babe Rainbow.
