Emerging indie-pop / rock powerhouse ixaras has dropped her new single fresh figure, following a first play on triple j last night.
fresh figure is the first single to be released via her newly launch youth-orientated label Anti Dismal. Raised in Meanjin/Brisbane, the 16 year-old has quickly become known for her melodic ear-worms and thought-provoking lyrics that explore the complexities of growing up and young love.
fresh figure delves into ixaras‘s internal monologue of a torn relationship and unrequited love, and the ambivalence she feels: “She’s out of my life / but I don’t feel anything”.
“I wanted fresh figure to be that fuck you track people would listen to, to help them feel validated after being messed around. I wrote it at the start of this year after being stuck in a situation I didn’t want to be in. Even though I’ve grown past what the song meant to me. It felt important to have it out because I saw so many people relating to it and connecting with the lyrics which was really special to see,” said ixaras.
ixaras is paving her own path within the music industry, and heads are turning! Debut singles lately + sprouts have culminated 280K+ streams alone and over 4 Million radio impressions (triple j, unearthed, Double J, 4ZZZ, Joy FM, SYN FM).
