After releasing his stellar single Muse, Naarm/Melbourne-based indie-rock artist Jacob Fitzgerald returns with his latest offering in Shame on You – produced by the artist himself and long-time friend/collaborator Brent Quirk, with mastering by George Georgiadis (Gang of Youths, The Vanns, Tyne James-Organ) at Little Wing Sound.

Shame on You is a fastidiously crafted slice of indie-pop, exploring the roller coaster ride of emotions amid a breakup. Aiming to capture these feelings sonically with its ever-evolving dynamics, the track opens with earnest vocals and airy synths, slowly building with its introverted verses, before arriving at its compellingly charged chorus. As the song closes out, a sombre bridge momentarily reflects on introspection; accentuating the imminently elevated choruses for a stunningly heartfelt finale.

Jacob describes the motivation behind the track: “Shame on You is a heartbreak song through and through, and is based around those few days following a breakup. It captures the regret; the things we’d wished we’d said and the desperation. It’s essentially saying, ‘I know that I agreed we’d go our separate ways, but I was speaking opposites; I don’t want this… what am I without you?’”

Previous single Muse was strongly supported by the likes of triple j Unearthed, Apple Music, MTV, worldwide tastemaker blogs and community radio.

Jacob and his band also traversed the Australian East Coast in August supporting Selfish Sons, performing six shows, which included stops in Naarm/Melbourne, Meanjin/Brisbane, Yugambeh/Tamborine, Yugambeh/Gold Coast and Eora/Sydney. He’s previously sold-out headline shows and supported the likes of The Delta Riggs, Fergus James and John Floreani (Trophy Eyes).

In the coming weeks, Jacob Fitzgerald will announce additional touring dates.
