Eora/Sydney-based seven-piece rock ‘n’ roll band KRYSTAL RIVVERS have just kicked off 2025 with their luscious new single Sienna – produced by Jack Moffit (The Preatures, I Know Leopard), Reyne House (Dope Lemon, The Delta Riggs), and Boon Wurrung/Wurundjeri storyteller and lead singer Earl Weir.
Sienna is a sunset-soaked cut of vibrant rock ‘n’ roll that blends radiating acoustic guitars, sliding bass lines and lead singer Earl Weir‘s crooning vocals. As the track unfolds, it gathers momentum and crescendos towards rousing choruses featuring striking backing vocals, delicate piano riffs and resolute drums.
Earl talks about the inspiration behind Sienna: “The story’s foundation is the poetry; we’ve used tones and energetic shifts to bring that to life. Through that basis, I can tell my version of the story while leaving space for the listener to interpret the lyrics in their own way. With the balance of light and dark, happy and sad, you are able to let the song take you wherever you want to go.”
KRYSTAL RIVVERS just performed at Australian mainstay festival Lost Paradise and will finish their Sienna tour with shows at the Beach Road Hotel in Eora/Bondi, King Street in Mulubinba/Newcastle and Lulie Tavern in Naarm/Melbourne. The band have sold out multiple hometown headline shows (300 capacity) and previously supported the likes of The Delta Riggs, Kingswood, Sloan Peterson, These New South Whales and Seaside. Earl has also performed at the Auntie RUBY HUNTER tribute show with Dan Sultan, Keeahn and many more First Nation artists.
In November last year, the band released their debut EP, ‘Arora’, which was recorded with ARIA-nominated producer Julian Sudek (Genesis Owusu). Previous singles have seen extensive playlist support from Spotify, such as the cover of ‘Big Ancestor Energy‘ and singles added to ‘Original Storytellers‘.
In the blogosphere, the band have been featured on Life Without Andy, Tone Deaf and The Music and received vast Australian community radio play from the likes of 3RRR, 2SER, PBS, Bay FM, 4ZZZ, Radio Adelaide, Edge Radio and RTR FM.
2025 will see KRYSTAL RIVVERS release their debut album alongside further tours of Australia, Indonesia and the UK. KRYSTAL RIVVERS takes cues from luminaries The War On Drugs, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds and Leonard Cohen to create story-driven rock ‘n’ roll that envelops the listener in warm instrumentation and contemplative soundscapes.
Outside of KRYSTAL RIVVERS, lead singer Earl Weir is also a First Nations radio program host and works on the First Nations advisory committee for Waverley, working across cultural projects, recognition and community initiatives. He also runs a mental health surfing comp called Mullet PRO. Earl adds, “I’m passionate about my aboriginal culture and speaking out against racism, so I feel fortunate to be able to do the work I do. I started Mullet PRO due to losing my best friend 10 years ago; mental health is an issue that’s very close to my heart.”
