Hailing from the idyllic Northern Rivers, Leaving Jordan, plunder the misery and ecstasy found to reveal a depth and relatability in their songwriting. Drawing their sound from the Byron Bay hardcore scene they grew up in, they create a unique fusion of indie, punk, and rock, that can either be moshed to with a sweaty mess of freaks or explored to the depth of emotions from which the songs were written.
The band round out 2023 with the release of their new track, Hidden – a deeply personal song that explores the pain of pretending to be in a mental state that you’re not actually in. The song delves into the complexities of health, hurtful thoughts and the battles of addiction.
Hidden is the most intimate piece thus far from Leaving Jordan, with clean ambient guitars and softer vocals. It allows a glimpse into the writing and performing range of the band as the dynamic of the song leans into it’s sensuality before building into the Leaving Jordan fans have come to love, with distorted guitars and driving drums.
Despite the difficult subject matter, Leaving Jordan ultimately act as a little message of hope and resilience. Acknowledging the strength it takes to keep going in the face of adversity and encourages listeners to find the courage to embrace their true selves, flaws and all.
