Naarm/Melbourne-based rock/punk duo Mannequin Death Squad have just announced their sophomore album, out Friday, November 22. Accompanying this announcement is their latest single off the record, Safe And Warm feat. DZ Deathrays – produced by the band themselves, mixed by Brent Quirk and mastered by Matt Gray (Violent SohoThe Veronicas).

Safe And Warm explodes with adrenaline-fueled guitars as frontwoman Elly Vex unleashes a sucker punch of raw energy and rebellion in her hurling vocals. A visceral call and response between Elly and Shane Parsons from DZ Deathrays echo into a stadium-sized arena of rallying cries that leave a blazing trail of pure punk passion.

Mannequin Death Squad talk about the inspiration behind Safe And Warm feat. DZ Deathrays: “Safe and Warm explores the lengths that people will go to stay comfortable and not inconvenienced, even if it’s to their downfall. Shining a light on reliance and control, it explores how complacency can be exploited in all areas of life. Listening back, the song definitely inspires us to become more self reliant and responsible for our own destiny, free of external control. It also feels like a battle between weakness and strength that pulls back and forth throughout the 2 minutes and 39 seconds of guitar driven chaos. The idea for bringing in Shane (DZ Deathrays) was really fun too. The song was pretty much finished, but we felt it needed an extra edge and level of play. We immediately thought his vocals would fit the vibe and intensity of the song. We love the DZ stuff so it was cool to have him DM us back on Insta saying he’s keen to be on the track. We absolutely love how it all came out.”

In the live arena, the duo have recently supported Suicidal Tendencies across their sold-out Australian Tour and have shared the stage with acts such as Frenzal RhombWAAX and SOFT PLAY (UK). They have also toured both nationally and internationally, headlining shows across the United Kingdom, Europe and India, including events such as Rebellion Festival (UK) and SXSW (AUS).

Previous releases have been widely embraced by Spotifytriple j, triple j Unearthed and Australian community radio such as 2RRRPBS FM4ZZZRadio Adelaide and 2XX FM. In the blogosphere, tracks have also been supported by the likes of Rolling Stone (IND), Kerrang! (UK), ForteThe AU ReviewBackseat Mafia (UK/AUS), HEAVY Mag and Music Feeds.
