Hailing from NSW’s Northern Rivers region, Stay Lucky drags his heart through the shadows of his past on his latest release  I Won’t Cry Anymore. The single features a reserved sweetness, steely attitude and velocity not uncommon to his earlier songs.

The gentle assuredness of his crooning paired with delicate and delightful twin Guitar tones takes us on a journey of intimacy and vulnerability, all the while led with the lightning like vigour of his vocals. The powerful lead guitar janks and jingles the song to life just when we feel it catch its breath.

Previously his release How I Loved You Then caught the ears of ABC Country, adding How I Loved You Then to full rotation, and further playback from Rhinestone Cowgirl on 4ZZZ (Brisbane), FBI Radio, RTR (Perth), and Double J on Tower of Songs with Henry Wagons. Additionally, CMT just picked up the Figure Me In video for their Alt Country, Locals Only and New Country programming, and playback.

On this new single, in-between the clichés, obvious notions of lost love and searching for answers. The song continues to push forward through webs of entendre, double negatives and proclaiming notions of self gratifying true love!

What started out as Stay Lucky rehearsing a cover of John Prine’s – Sam Stone for an open mic at his local leagues club transpired into a fever frenzy of words which inspired Stay Lucky to begin writing until the melody and structure paled in comparison to where he began. But this moment drew a proverbial line in the sand.

Just goes to show when it comes to love, being in the moment is never fully enough to comprehend all the little pieces. We all need time to revisit, reflect and evidently never let go of the fact, we were presently and pensively in love.

I Won’t Cry Anymore was recorded and produced by Alex Markwell in Melbourne in July 2024 and mastered by Rick Snowden of Third Eye Stimuli Records.
