Progressive metalcore masterminds Citadel are back to bleed it out with their brand-new offering Old Blood.

Citadel take you on a self-loathing descent into your past, focused on family, heritage and how your environment growing up can engrain itself into your own traits, often negatively affecting the ones you love.

Vocalist Russell Miller guides listeners into the track, delivering a haunting and intimate performance before the collective transition into a soaring, anthemic chorus. The lyrics reference a desire to shed negative traits inherited from one’s family and start anew, invoking imagery of a pseudo oil change with the line, “If I bled out, would I be better.” The song continues to build up to a calamitous breakdown, culminating in a final, powerful singalong chorus to conclude the track.

Citadel has been working hard behind closed doors and will be a focal point for the remainder of 2024 as they prepare to dive into limbo with a new collection of songs.
