In 2021, Perth / Boorloo based Ruby May floated back into our lives with her envision of R&B intertwined with lo-fi dreams, house grooves and 90s nostalgia. Releases included features alongside friends and collaborators Hyclass, Turbo Chook and JCAL. May then hit us with her debut music video and self produced track, Mr Platonic.
In 2022, May released 4PM, a collaboration with local producer YACKU featuring one of Australia’s most authentic rappers, Strictly D.T.
Ruby May now returns in 2024 with a new track, THANK YA feat. Kozo Mkhwanazi, singer of Fremantle band, Shy Adam. Created as an ode to the ones you love, saying thank you to those humans who are with you through all terrains. The ones who are there for you in hard and sticky times, the ones who are there for you in the belly laughs and best times.
THANK YA was produced by local producer Probablyroc (Prodbyroc) and features Kozo Mkhwanazi (Shy Adam), who also used to sing BVs back when Ruby May played with a 7-piece band.
