Hailing from Brisbane / Meanjin, artist and songwriter Sammy Snide is carving out a unique lane with his self-described sound, Modern Australiana—music that feels both fresh and distinctive while carrying the warmth of something timeless.
Following a string of powerful releases, Snide returns with his latest single, Crack Of Dawn, a moving meditation on grief and the complicated emotions that follow the loss of a loved one. Written with a disarming simplicity and honesty, the track cuts straight to the heart of an experience that is deeply personal yet universally resonant.
“When my grandmother passed I felt very alone,” Snide shares. “I had people around but the one person my little heart still needed there couldn’t be there. Which led to lots of feelings—on top of the sadness was some misplaced frustration and the already running heartbreak.”
Crack Of Dawn continues the journey of songs recorded throughout 2023 and early 2024 at Easy Machine Recordings with producer JB Paterson, alongside Snide’s band. With more releases on the horizon, this new single solidifies his reputation for heartfelt, grounded storytelling that refuses to shy away from vulnerability.
