Arriving as their first new music in 2026, The Buoys are back with their new single, Kill You Back, out via Sony Music Australia.
Written with friend of the band, Alistair Hayes, Kill You Back is another self-assured, gut punching rock song from The Buoys. Known for their high octane, unmissable live shows, Kill You Back is steeping with that same energy and so masterfully captures the four-piece in their element.
The band’s lead singer and guitarist Zoe Catterall reflects on the track: “I’ve been sooo obsessed with Illuminati Hotties for years now, no one can write and produce chaotic sounds and ideas like Sarah Tudzin, what a legend. I came into the session with a plan to write about being murdered and haunting my murderer. The concept itself was a bit zany, so it felt necessary to ask ourselves in that moment; what would Sarah Tudzin do? If it sounds chaotic and weird, that’s cause it’s meant to be!”
Today’s single arrives as the band’s first single in 2026, following on from 2025’s Bitch. The Buoys spent the last 12 months touring their 2024 debut album, ‘Lustre’ across Europe, playing headline shows in Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, The Netherlands, and multiple shows at Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival. As one of the nation’s most beloved live bands, The Buoys were recently announced as the support act for Foo Fighters on their Newcastle headline show this November 12 at McDonald Jones Stadium.
Since their formation, The Buoys have carved out a distinct place in Australia’s music scene, releasing a run of standout singles and EPs that led to their debut album, ‘Lustre’, in 2024. Exploring explores themes of empowerment, resilience, and the complexities of modern relationships, all delivered with the band’s signature raw intensity The album received critical acclaim, debuting at #7 on the Australian Album ARIA charts, and was named triple j’s Feature Album in July, later earning a nomination for Australian Album of the Year. ‘Lustre’ explores themes of empowerment, resilience, and the complexities of modern relationships; all delivered with the band’s signature raw intensity.
