Brisbane-based alt-rock band Torizon has made a compelling return, unveiling their latest impassioned single, Damaged. Produced by Kalen Austin and mixed by Chris Blancato (known for his work with Northlane and Reliqa), showcases Torizon‘s signature operatic and intense style of alternative rock. Lead vocalist Mish Sharma‘s soaring voice takes center stage, enveloped by growling distorted guitars and a powerful bassline.  The outfit crafts a compelling sonic fusion that perfectly complements the sincere and impactful lyrics. And we haven’t even told you about that killer bridge!

Mish Sharma sheds light on the narrative behind Damaged:

“‘Damaged’ is written about narcissistic abuse from the perspective of the victim calling the abuser out. Statistically, the likelihood of adults with childhood trauma ending up in dysfunctional and abusive relationships is very high. As someone with complex PTSD (treated), I found myself in multiple abusive relationships. With the help of a great mental health care team, all my connections now are safe and supportive. The song was written from the perspective of someone who has broken the cycle and can now see the signs of NPD and narcissistic abuse.”

Accompanying the release is an imposing clip, directed and edited by Emerge Creative with production design by Emma Mallory. The vid remains in harmony with the track’s themes; Mish Sharma adds, Emma came up with the concept of the actress frantically searching through her ex-partner’s home. The heart depicts her power, which she takes back at the end of the video. We had to shoot with the feathers twice, meaning we had to clean the entire studio twice. All of us still find random feathers in our homes. I also had to sing with the feathers raining on me – I swallowed many of them, haha.”

Drawing inspiration from renowned acts like Evanescence, Tonight Alive, and Bad Omens, Torizon‘s musical venture serves as both therapy and catharsis –  it’s a recipe that’s propelling them to great heights, already having sold-out hometown headline shows and performances alongside notable acts such as Valhalore, Darkcell, Circles, and The Stranger. Their upcoming participation in the ‘Riff N Tour’ national tour alongside Orpheus Omega and Triple Kill in September is highly anticipated, with performances at The Brightside in Brisbane and Crowbar in Sydney.

Damaged is now available globally on favourite streaming service!
