Yugambeh/Gold Coast-based artist TRILLA has just released her lustrous single Slipstream – produced and mixed by Scott French. This comes ahead of two shows supporting Odette at Mo’s Desert Clubhouse in Yugambeh/Gold Coast and Brunswick Picture House in Durring/Brunswick Heads.
Slipstream is a glossy, effervescent cut of pop-rock driven by static percussion, grumbling bass and glistening guitar riffs, subtlety building dynamically into sweeping singalong choruses. Driving hi-hats help lift the song before dropping to an elegant, reserved bridge as the spacious production allows each element to shine.
TRILLA talks about the inspiration behind Slipstream: “‘Slipstream’ is a word I use to describe the flow state. Things come effortlessly when you’re in the Slipstream. This track is a declaration for a big life. This is a personal mantra for calling to the next level of power, freedom, love, and fame. It’s about blazing a trail with my woman by my side and raising our vibration to live the life of our dreams. Most of the declarations in this song have actually come true since writing it. Writing lyrics this way with such intention has been a powerful manifestation tool in my life. My partner Tani wrote the lyrics to the bridge with me while we went to my single launch for ‘Woman’, where I debuted ‘Slipstream’ that night.”
Along with the two Odette support shows, TRILLA will play several dates across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, including Maleny Lane in the Kawana/Sunshine Coast, The Rails in Cavanbah/Byron Bay, Miami Marketta in Yugambeh/Gold Coast and Centre Of You in Naarm/Melbourne. This continues on from supporting the likes of Tones and I, Busby Marou, Iluka, Z Star Trinity and Felipe Baldomir.
TRILLA is the project of Yugambeh/Gold Coast-based Queer/Lesbian artist Trilla Sol, who is often compared to the likes of Stevie Knicks, Angie McMahon and Tash Sultana. TRILLA also runs her own community event called Spell Song, a ceremonial rock show held over the past two years with the aim of bringing people together. TRILLA explains, “Bringing people together is very close to my heart. I frequently gather with the community to sing and dance together in circle and full expression. No matter how big I get, I will always desire to hold intimate community events.”
