Melbourne metalcore outfit Windwaker have announced the deluxe version of their sophomore album, ‘HYPERVIOLENCE: Expansion Pack’, out Friday February 14 via Civilians and Fearless Records.
‘HYPERVIOLENCE: Expansion Pack’ features three new songs plus a new version of SIRENS featuring TSS — today the band share their new opening track, Apathy.
“‘Apathy’ is a reflection of the growing fatigue in today’s society — a catchy upbeat anthem wrapped in a dark biting tone,” the band states. “It tackles the overwhelming noise of politics and the relentless chatter both online and offline that leaves so many feeling disillusioned and detached.”
Apathy is the first taste of the ‘Expansion Pack’, building on the ‘HYPERVIOLENCE’ album which released in July via Civilians and Fearless Records. ‘HYPERVIOLENCE’ is the evolution of the group’s fresh and exciting sound. Concocting an unsuspecting recipe of electro-charged violence, sickly sweet pop hooks, bouncing hip-hop moments and slick riffage, the charismatic quintet move towards exciting new territory with each new release — and ‘HYPERVIOLENCE’ is the summit of their efforts.
Windwaker will play Thornhill‘s Christmas Extravaganza show at Pier Bandroom in Frankston next Friday December 20, joining Void Of Vision, The Gloom In The Corner and Starve for a night of metal celebration. For fans across Australia, the album will be unleashed in its full form on the ‘HYPERVIOLENCE’ Tour in January and February 2025, presented by Destroy All Lines and Open Door Management, with special guests Thousand Below (USA), Diamond Construct and Headwreck. Following their Australian tour, the band will continue into North American territory throughout February and March supporting metalcore heavyweights Make Them Suffer with Like Moths To Flames (USA) and Aviana (USA).
The Melbourne outfit— Liam Guinane [vocals] Jesse Crofts [guitar], Indey Salvestro [bass], Chris Lalic [drums, programming], and Connor Robins [synths and samples] —have grown a dedicated and passionate fanbase, amassing millions of digital streams since their inception in 2017. Their latest album has collected well over 10 million Spotify streams and counting, and they charted #12 in ARIA Top 20 Australian Artists Physical Album, #13 in ARIA Top 50 Digital Albums and #19 in ARIA Australian Artists Albums upon release. The album released earlier this year, midway through their first ever North American tour with Northlane and Thornhill, which saw Windwaker win over thousands of new fans and solidify their place at the forefront of modern metal.
