Ahead of their upcoming shows as part of SXSW Sydney, Meanjin alt-rock outfit Worm Girlz today drop surprise single Don’t – the final track to be revealed from their upcoming, self-titled debut album – out October 31.
A scathingly hilarious warning against the male gaze, Don’t serves as Worm Girlz’ most quotable song yet, with the band taking full ownership of their “funbags”, “bazoomas” and of course, “Danny Devitos”. In classic Worm Girlz fashion, the track is ferociously confident and beloved by their growing, tight-knit community – having quickly become a favourite at live shows for its twist ending filled with operatic, choral harmonies (let the Wormz cook).
Already amassing over 500K views across socials before the track’s official release, Don’t has firmly cemented itself as a cult classic in worm lore. When asked for a statement on the track, vocalist Lauren simply replied: “titties”.
To celebrate the release, Worm Girlz will host a special pop up show at Prince Alfred Park in Sydney around their official SXSW showcases. Join the band under the big tree by the Rainbow Path from 4:30PM – 5:30PM for colouring crochet, an intimate acoustic set and FREE Milkshakes for the first 10 Wormz to arrive.
