Naarm/Melbourne-based funk-pop artist Zachary Leo has just unveiled his spirited EP ‘On My Mind’ – produced/mixed by Tobias Priddle and mastered by Pieter De Wagter.

‘On My Mind’ soars with seven vibrant tracks that range from retro synth-driven tracks to groove-infused anthems. The collection seamlessly transitions between acoustic elements and guitar-centric sounds, capturing the essence of both nostalgia and contemporary flair.

Zachary Leo talks about the inspiration behind ‘On My Mind’: “‘On My Mind’ is a collection of songs that authentically represent who I am as an artist. The EP’s title and title track centres around mental health and, more specifically, my struggles with anxiety, but it also alludes to the fact that every song on the EP represents a feeling or thought that could be on my mind at any time or all at once. Seven tracks, lots of thoughts and absolute chaos. This project was an opportunity for me to work on some songs that I had been holding onto for a long time and share them with the world. I have felt my songwriting and sound shaping a lot over the last 4 years and this project was a chance for me to bring that all together and just pour it all out onto the canvas. I am so proud of this project and can’t wait to share it with the world.”

Time After Time opens the EP with pulsating bass lines and vintage synthesisers. The instrumental bridge transforms into a funk-infused odyssey, injecting a groove-laden touch that crescendos into the finale. Can’t Be Enough follows, with liquid wah-wah guitar lines and swelling pads driving Zachary Leo‘s velvety vocals over the funk arrangement.

Pretty Girl follows with disco-funk and modern pop instrumentation, leaning into Suffer where the momentum builds on intricate rhythms and emotive vocals. So Good introduces a change of pace, starting with an acoustic feel, as guitar and vocals lead the track before transitioning into a gritty instrumental. Focus track GMSG (Give Me Something Good) ends the collection with rhythmic guitars and bouncing bass lines that drive the song’s energetic core to the finale.
