Glowing with nostalgic indie-pop warmth and restless energy, Abbey Lane returns with her vibrant new single Younger.
Marking a sonic shift from the emotional weight of her previous release Baby Steps, Younger sees Abbey lean into a more upbeat and light-hearted tone; celebrating youth, freedom, and self-discovery. With punchy guitars, upbeat percussion and an anthemic chorus that invites listeners to roll down the windows and chase the horizon, this new track will feel right at home for fans Spacey Jane, Middle Kids and The Rions.
Produced by Raseca Jallorina, the track captures the infectious spirit of being in your early twenties – equal parts uncertain and full of possibility. As Abbey explains, “Younger is all about embracing your youth and searching for new experiences. It’s a track about trying to discover yourself; wanting to make new connections, travel and see new things.”
The song’s conception is deeply personal, written while travelling solo in her van for the first time. Abbey sought to create something that felt carefree, bold, and full of life, as she explains how she “wanted to write a track that highlighted the excitement of feeling young, travelling on your own and learning as you go“. As no stranger to the music scene, Abbey Lane has been showcasing her new music across the East Coast at festivals such as Rockhampton River Festival, Old Bar Beach Festival, and Never Had So Much Fun since 2018, with more touring in the works for the back end of 2025.
Younger is a vibrant leap forward for Abbey Lane, following the recent success of her single Baby Steps, which welcomed support from Triple J and Rolling Stones. Stepping away from the softness and melancholy of the last release, Younger showcases a new, exciting side of Abbey Lane which embraces joy, momentum, and the freedom of not having it all figured out just yet.
