Andy Martin has a unique talent for turning earnest songwriting into hooky indie-pop anthems, and his
latest track is no exception. Today, Andy is excited to release his new single, Exactly Where I’m Supposed to Be, out now!
2024 has been an astronomical year for Andy, from touring with The Rubens, Ben Lee, and The Vanns, to being handpicked by Angus & Julia Stone for an intensive mentorship program. Fresh off the back of this success, Andy was eager to jump in the studio with long-time collaborator and ARIA award winning producer Aidan Hogg (G Flip, Hope D, Asha Jefferies). Together, they created the shiny sonic world that is Exactly Where I’m Supposed to Be, at Brisbane’s iconic Plutonium Studios (Tame Impala, Hatchie, WAAX). The track was mastered by Brisbane luminary Brock Weston (BUGS, Eliza & The Delusionals, Beddy Rays), who placed the final touches on this summer anthem.
“Exactly Where I’m Supposed to Be kind of feels like my coming-of-age track. The song is very personal, touching on various internal struggles I’ve faced over the past few years. Life is not linear, so embracing the good, the bad, and the ugly, is what makes us who we are. It felt so cathartic building this world with Aidan and I’m really happy with the end result! Right here, right now, is Exactly Where I’m Supposed to Be” – Andy Martin
Exactly Where I’m Supposed to Be follows on from the success of I Don’t Wanna Go Out and Toothaches. Released back in late 2023, these gained editorial playlisting and regular play on Triple J and Triple M. His debut album ‘Reverie’ was released in late 2022 to widespread acclaim across media outlets including Music Feeds, The AU Review, The Australian Music Scene (Cover Artist), and theMusic.com.au. The album has also racked up over 1M streams on digital platforms.
Channelling the youthful energy of The Wombats, the candour of Sam Fender and the warmth of Ball Park
Music, Exactly Where I’m Supposed to Be launches Andy’s music into a new era. Masterfully pairing his trademark sounds of hazy electric guitar and spirited synths with the addition of bright acoustic guitar and the vocals of Maisy Taylor (Vanda & Young Top 40), Andy has crafted an enchantingly earnest song that will live rent-free in your head and your heart.
