Ascendant star Ayesha Madon today shares her new offering, Jenga, ahead of her performance at the opening night of VIVID Sydney Tumbalong Nights with Charley tonight!
Ayesha Madon continues to quantise the dexterities of her craft on Jenga. Arrestingly able to recontextualise the most menial moments – watching the news to board games – into levitating joy. Co-written with David Evans, Pat Byrne and her longstanding scene-partner, James Majoos, Jenga‘s cinematic soundscape captures the childlike glee of best friendship and meaningful sum of all its parts.
“Jenga was one of those songs that revealed itself in about 30 minutes. I was writing it with two of my best friends James Majoos (who some people may know as ‘Darren’) and James’ partner Dave Evans (Oren) at golden hour in their living room. My other close friend Pat (Beso Palma) jumped in to produce it up, along with Dave. I love writing with my friends. It feels healing, personal and often yields my most honest lyricism. This song is about a friendship with someone I hold very dear and so it was only fitting to write this song with other people close to my heart.”
