Following on from the warmly received release of his EP ‘LIFT’, Meanjin/Brisbane-based electronic artist and producer Du0 has today returned with a shimmering new single Summer Nights – produced by the artist himself, and mixed by Nicolas Essig (Daft Punk, Paul McCartney, Post Malone).
Beginning with wistful piano chords and uplifting vocals, decorated with synthetic intricacies, Summer Nights is a luminosity of electronic brilliance that radiates with aptitude throughout its duration. Colourfully modest verses flow delectably into a mountainous chorus, brimming with cordiality and sparkling production. Scattered with sensitive saxophone and guided by stratums of harmonies, the song is a vivid journey through the stunning soundscapes created by Du0 himself.
Du0 talks about the process behind Summer Nights: “Written in a hot Australian summer, ‘Summer Nights’ started on a back deck with a guitar and from there was produced with chill and uplifting synth and sax parts. Lyrically it’s a nostalgic take on love when summer’s balmy nights seemed endless and you could live in the moment while the future seemed so far away.”
Previous releases have seen extensive support from HIT Network, triple j, triple j Unearthed, 4ZZZ, Radio Adelaide, RTR FM, JOY FM, Radio Metro and Phoenix Radio. Du0 has also received praise from tastemaker blogs Indie Shuffle (ZAF), This Song Is Sick (USA), YourEDM (USA), Run The Trap (USA), Acid Stag, Pilerats, The AU Review and world-renowned producer/DJ Diplo.
In 2021, his single Come Home won the Unsigned Only category in the International Songwriting Competition.
