Following the announcement of their signing to conscientious and forward-thinking Meanjin-based label False Peak Records, Lutruwita/Tasmania experimental indie-rock quartet Silver Fleet Ships have released Gemini, the second taste of their anticipated debut album ‘Before Never, After Forever’.
Where previous single Surprised (June 4) was insistent and sharp-edged, Gemini wears a warmer, softer shade of darkness. Coloured by lush country noir, Gemini’s smoky haze seeps through wistful, reverberant lulls and rolling swells, punctuated by pensive guitar motifs and showcasing Silver Fleet Ships’ flair for dramatic, orchestral arrangements.
Having built a loyal live following throughout Nipaluna/Hobart, and with impressive performances at key events including Junction Arts Festival and MONA’s New Year’s Eve showcase under their belts, news of a long-awaited Silver Fleet Ships LP has the local community buzzing.
Silver Fleet Ships’ debut full length album ‘Before Never, After Forever’, will be released on October 10th, through False Peak Records. Recorded entirely by the band themselves, combining an atmosphere of exploration with a deep DIY ethos, the result is an intricate and intensely personal body of work, underpinned by palpable emotion.
