Boorloo/Perth-based indie-rock trio Fool Nelson have just unveiled their latest offering Don’t Feel Right – produced and mixed by Andy Lawson (Noah DillonMitch SantiagoDeath By Denim). Alongside the release is the announcement of their first Australian national headline tour in February and March 2025, coming off the back of BIGSOUND, selling out The Rechabite in Boorloo/Perth, a sold out regional WA run, and an AU & NZ tour with Old Mervs.

Don’t Feel Right further expands on Fool Nelson‘s charming catalogue of hook-laden singalongs punctuated with the fervent introspection of lead singer Tom Broadbent‘s crooning vocals. Vibrant guitars, thunking drums and driving bass lay the bedrock for the track’s deft pre-choruses and soaring refrains, creating a song equal parts heartfelt and melodic.

Fool Nelson talk about the inspiration behind Don’t Feel Right and reflect on their year: “Don’t Feel Right is about not taking the people around you for granted. It touches on the idea of growing apart from friends and forgetting about how important certain people are in your life. It’s been a pretty crazy year for us, lots of ‘firsts’ and some awesome opportunities. It’s definitely been a lot more touring than we’ve ever done. We’re super excited to be doing our first ever headline Australian tour finally. It’s a big effort to do coming from WA, but now that we’ve got a bit of a taste for it, we’re definitely keen to keep the ball rolling with playing as many shows around the country as we can!”

Their first national Australian headline tour will feature shows across Naarm/Melbourne, Eora/Sydney, Meanjin/Brisbane, Tandanya/Adelaide, Mulubinba/Newcastle and three shows across their home state of Western Australia. This continues on from being support-act favs for Old Mervs, Ball Part MusicThe GrogansThe RionsThe Moving Stills and Ra Ra Viper, and notching impressive sets at Out & About FestivalTone City Records Festival, and have NYE On The Hill upcoming in December.

In June 2024 the band released their second EP ‘Falling Apart’ to much critical acclaim, including gracing the cover of Spotify’s ‘Local Noise’. Singles off the record also saw editorial playlist support from Spotify (‘New Music Friday’, ‘Local Noise’, ‘The Local List’, ‘Fresh Finds’, ‘Fresh Finds Rock’) and Apple Music (‘New Music Daily’, ’Antidote’, ‘The Sound’).

Fading was added to spot rotation on national broadcaster triple j, with further radio play from triple j Unearthed, Australian community radio and overseas radio across the UK, France and Belgium. In late 2023 the band also won the triple j Unearthed competition for Australian mainstay festival Groovin the Moo, for which they played the Goomburrup/Bunbury leg. The EP tracks also received retail playlist additions from Stingray and the Fading music video was added to rotation on ABC‘s rage.
