Currently on their biggest ever headline tour, playing arenas around Australia, Gang Of Youths have released ‘TRIPLE J LIKE A VERSION SESSIONS’ EP via the band’s own label Mosy Recordings, licensed through Sony Music Entertainment Australia. The first ever of its kind, the EP will feature all of the band’s Like A Version performances including two previously unreleased covers and two previously unreleased originals from years gone by. 
 
The EP comes to the delight of fans who have been experiencing the glory of the ‘angel in realtime.’ tour first-hand with incredible shows in Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle and Sydney. With a four-star review, Sydney Morning Herald labelled the Qudos Bank Arena show as a “near-biblical” experience for fans. The band will take the stage for their sold-out Rod Laver Arena shows tonight and again tomorrow. Still to come, the band will play A More Perfect Union dates in Tasmania on Sunday August 14th and Sandstone Point on Saturday August 20th as well as their recently announced acoustic and intimate show at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Monday August 22nd.

‘TRIPLE J LIKE A VERSION SESSIONS’ EP includes their very first Like A Version from 2015 with their cover of LCD Soundsystem’s All My Friends and their original song Benevolence Riots performed with Montaigne.  

In 2018, the band returned to the triple j studios to turn The Middle Easts’ 2010 folk track Blood into a heart-cracking rock anthem and also performed The Deepest Sighs, The Frankest Shadows from their 2017 ARIA Award-winning album ‘Go Farther In Lightness’.  

For their most recent Like A Version the band tackled the 1999 Travis classic Why Does It Always Rain on Me? On the cover choice, front man Dave Le’aupepe said “They’re a band that’s about as uncool as us, and I thought that was really sweet to do it.” During this most recent session, Dave also performed the hauntingly beautiful brothers from their critically acclaimed third studio album ‘angel in realtime.’.

‘angel in realtime’. saw the band make the biggest impact of their career to date. It saw them achieve a #1 ARIA Album Debut, #1 Australian Album, #1 Physical, #1 Digital, #1 Vinyl as well as their first UK Top 10 chart position. The album’s release capped off a remarkable few months for the band including lead single from the album, angel of 8th avenue. coming in at #6 on triple j Hottest 100, in the wake of your leave added to playlists at BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2 in the UK, being the cover artists on the February issue of NME Australia and announcing their biggest Australian headline shows to date and their own festival A More Perfect Union as part of the run.  

The record was triple j’s feature album of the week and received high praise from media across the board with The Australian labelling it “lifesaving”. The band performed three show-stealing US TV performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, CBS Mornings and Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Over 2021 and 2022, the band have completed a sold-out UK headline tour that sold out the O2 Academy Brixton as well their North American headline tour which also included numerous sold-out shows.
