Emerging Eora/Sydney artist Gena Stone shares new single Blame Saturn, a clear-eyed exploration of patterns, accountability, and the quiet realisations that come with growth. It’s a track that leans into subtle intensity, built on layered guitars, steady keys, and vocals that hold space for both doubt and clarity.
Blame Saturn unpacks the feeling of being stuck, choosing the wrong people, repeating the same behaviours, and not realising you’re the one setting the course. “It’s about being stuck in a loop,” Stone says. “Falling back into stubborn habits or chasing the same type of person who’s not right for you, without realising you’re the one choosing it”. The song gained even more meaning after it was written, when Stone realised that Saturn, the planet that represents time, boundaries, and long-term growth, captured the song’s themes perfectly. “It was a serendipitous coincidence that gave the lyrics a lot more depth.”
The track follows a restrained, atmospheric production style that gives space to its emotional core. Stone draws from a range of influences, including Dido’s melodic clarity, Mk.gee’s lo-fi experimentation, and the expansive feel of George Clanton. But her songwriting remains focused and personal, driven by honest reflection rather than abstraction.
Blame Saturn is Stone’s second release of 2025, following her most recent single Silhouette, a sharper, more urgent track about doubt, distraction, and self-belief. That single saw strong radio support from FBi Radio, 2Ser, and SYN, along with playlisting across Spotify’s Fresh Finds ANZ and hits different, and Apple Music’s New Music Daily, New In Pop, and New In Alternative. She launched the track with her biggest headline show yet at the Trocadero Room in Enmore.
Her 2024 debut Pistachio introduced her as a distinctive new voice in Sydney’s alt-pop scene, and since then, she’s been steadily building momentum. Stone’s songs often start as fragments, ideas scrawled quickly, and reveal their meaning over time. That sense of discovery is present in her live shows, which move between quieter moments and bursts of energy. She’s played across venues including The Midnight Special, Lazy Thinking, The Union Hotel, Palomino Lounge, and recently performed at King Street Crawl.
With Blame Saturn, Gena Stone continues to carve out a space that balances clarity and introspection, writing songs that sit with difficult truths and ask better questions in return.
