Kicking of their 8-date ‘WHAT U WANT TOUR’, Eora/Sydney-based indie rock/pop outfit GRXCE have dropped the stunning visual accompaniment to their latest single Everything I Wanted – out now.

Edited and shot by GRXCE‘s own Alex Berger, this video is the perfect visual accompaniment to Everything I Wanted, depicting a narrative of two characters seemingly missing their meet-cute at every opportunity. This video pushed the band’s creative capacities to their limits, further demonstrating how dedicated they are to the project.

“Making this music video was so fun but so stressful at the same time,” Alex explains. “Jamila always has such strong imagery or narrative underlying her songs and as a producer, director, or anyone interacting with her art – you want to do it justice. As someone with no real experience making films, there was certainly a lot of winging it and hoping that it’d come together in the edit. After a few revisions, I think we got it.”

Jamila adds: “I’ve always been a big lover of narratives whether that be film, tv or novels so I think I always dream super big when it comes to music videos. We wanted to portray a series of near-misses between the two characters, like an invisible string that always kept them together despite being emotionally distanced. I am incredibly proud of how close we got to the vision despite biting off a bit more than we could chew potentially. It’s been equally fulfilling and stressful to push our creative capacities to their limits but it really just shows what a dedicated team we have within the band.”

True to their own motto of delivering “sad music to dance to”GRXCE adds another triumph to their repertoire with Everything I Wanted, bound to become a crowd favourite during their upcoming shows, which kick off tonight in Brookvale NSW, bookended by a final show at OAF Gallery on 6 October – tickets on sale now.
