Off the back of latest release Gravel Rash, which received airplay on triple J and FBi Radio, as well as featuring in New Music Daily, Fresh Finds, Today’s Indie Rock and more across Spotify and Apple Music,  NSW indie-pop quartet GRXCE give another taste of their debut EP with new single, Someday.

Reflecting on past mistakes with refreshing honesty, Someday is centred around the clarity that comes with accepting your shortcomings – more specifically vocalist Jamila’s battles with anxiety. The track will serve as the final piece of the EP but rather than treating it a resolution, Jamila openly recognises that there is still work to be done.

“I knew I wanted to finish the EP with something that was hopeful for the future, but it felt unauthentic saying that I was ‘better’ and all fixed up when anxiety was still something I struggled with in my everyday life,” explains Jamila“The song kinda fell together when I let go of the notion that the closing track had to be this perfect summary and ending to the journey.”

Produced and mixed with Fletcher Matthews (The Buoys, Dear Seattle), Someday offers a vulnerable but hopeful side to GRXCE, whose synergy is so palpable it feels like they’ve experienced everything collectively. From slow build swells to the hair-raising crescendo finale, this is a song to truly immerse in.

“I realised that the journey wasn’t over yet and I needed to celebrate how far I’d come and everything I had endured whilst still acknowledging there were plenty of growing pains yet to be felt and plenty of mistakes still to be made. I’m not there yet, but I will be someday,” says Jamila.

Someday will feature on GRXCE’s concept EP, ‘Sorry For Being Sad’ that’s due for release on June 28, along with an exciting short film that is currently in production. The band are also set to hit the road in May, playing shows throughout New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
