Canberra rock heavyweights Hands Like Houses have teamed up with post-hardcore icons Dream On Dreamer on new single Warning Signs, out now via Civilians. The new track arrives as both bands get ready to hit the road together on the ‘Lótus’ Tour this April – TICKETS ON SALE NOW.
Warning Signs is about recognising emotional burnout before it becomes impossible to ignore, and captures the feeling of drifting through life on autopilot, missing the signals that something is wrong while anxiety bubbles beneath the surface. It’s about appearing okay on the outside and quietly suffering on the inside, where exhaustion, numbness and overthinking take hold.
“We were stoked to work on this track with Dream On Dreamer,” says Hands Like Houses bassist Joel Tyrell. “Their guitarist, Callan, is a very close friend of ours and he has produced a lot of our music. And we have known the guys since they took us on our first tour of Australia in 2011… crazy. It felt like a great time to celebrate our upcoming tour and the fact we are still touring, creating and loving music.”
The upcoming tour will see Hands Like Houses and Dream On Dreamer embark on a run of shows across the country. Kicking off in Canberra at The Baso on Thursday 16 April, the tour will then roll through Manning Bar in Sydney, Princess Theatre in Brisbane, Kings Beach Tavern on the Sunshine Coast, Beer Deluxe in Albury, 170 Russell in Melbourne, UniBar in Adelaide, and will conclude at Magnet House in Perth on Sunday 26 April.
In the spirit of community that has defined their career, Hands Like Houses opened the tour to emerging Australian artists, launching a nationwide search for local bands to open each show. Artists were invited to apply via social media for a chance to join the bill, giving new acts the opportunity to step onto larger stages alongside two of the country’s most respected alternative rock names.
Fresh from a massive year that delivered a #2 ARIA album, a #4 ARIA deluxe release, and national tours alongside The Used and The Butterfly Effect, Hands Like Houses are using the ‘Lótus’ Tour to create genuine opportunities for the next generation of Australian artists. Armed with new music and a live set spanning fan favourites, the tour offers a rare chance to see two of Australia’s most respected heavy rock acts on one bill – all while opening the stage to emerging local talent.
