Naarm/Melbourne indie-pop singer-songwriter Isabelle Skye unveils her second solo single, Kaleidoscope; a shimmering, bittersweet follow-up to 2024’s exquisite debut Fairy Dust. Isabelle’s music blends tender storytelling with an ethereal, otherworldly sound, creating an atmosphere both intimate and expansive. With sonic influences ranging from Clairo, Lana Del Rey, and Mazzy Star to The Japanese House and Tennis, Kaleidoscope is an immersive blend of psychedelic synths, vintage guitar tones, and intimate vocals.

Echoes of ’60s and ’70s icons like Nancy Sinatra, The Zombies, and Margo Guryan lend the track a timeless, cinematic quality, deeply rooted in Isabelle’s enduring love for all things vintage. But her passion goes far beyond just music, she even runs her own vintage clothing business, Lucid Skye Vintage. From the warm, analogue textures in her music to the curated aesthetic she brings to everything she does, Isabelle lives and breathes vintage.

“Kaleidoscope captures that moment in dating when everything feels bright and promising, yet their actions quietly start to unravel the truth behind their words,” Isabelle explains. “It’s the realization that your view of the connection doesn’t match theirs. To me, it’s like looking through a kaleidoscope—beautiful and captivating, yet fragmented and confusing, with reality shifting in unexpected ways.”

An Aboriginal artist raised in Naarm/Melbourne, Isabelle has been immersed in music for as long as she can remember. Her creative journey truly took flight in her teenage years when she began writing songs and performing, eventually going on to study music formally at age 17. Today she’s a fixture in Naarm’s thriving scene, performing in a range of projects including Doe Eyes, China Beach, and Shot By Jane.

“This is the first time I’ve released solo material that’s entirely written by me. It feels like a huge milestone, especially after dealing with self-doubt and anxiety,”
Isabelle reflects. “The song explores miscommunication and heartache in dating, experiences I know many people share, and I hope listeners can relate and feel seen through it.”

Kaleidoscope was recorded at Fish Bones Tone Shack. It was produced and mixed by Fabian Hunter and mastered by Issac Barter.
